HYDERABAD: Almost two months after the first job fair was held in the Old City of Hyderabad for the first time, another fair is being planned for the month of September. Given the large number of jobless youth here, thousands of whom had turned up for the first job mela, officials said that this time they would be ensuring more companies participate in the fair and make better job offers.
"Last time, 38 companies had participated and 1,200 job offers were made. But I suspect that many would have dropped out as the offers were not good enough," said Ayesha Rubina, cooption member of MIM, who played a key role in organizing the last fair. She said that the salaries offered in many cases were not too good and that this time not only are candidates being trained in soft skills and also being counseled, but they would try and get bigger companies to participate at the event. "We will train those who did not get jobs the last time," Rubina said.Job fairs are now being planned all zones of the city. "But for now it's most needed in the Old City. "There are a lot of engineering colleges here that don't have campus recruitments so at least a job mela would help," Rubina said.
